For those of you who are on the fence about videography…there’s something about video that still images can’t capture (& I say this as a photographer with all the appreciation in the world for photography!). When we finish up the photos and video for a wedding, here’s the difference: I smile at the photos but the video always makes me cry. this is one of those such videos. I didn’t have the pleasure of being at this wedding or getting to know Claire & Garrett, since we had a different second shooter, but when I watched the video, it was like I was there. I felt the cool, relaxed vibes of the wedding party, and how happy everyone was to be there. I felt Garrett’s anticipation as he waited for the first look. I felt the excitement of all the children. & most of all, I felt immense love and unity during the butterfly release. Butterflies have been a huge symbol in the family ever since Claire’s grandfather passed away. Shortly before he passed, three monarch butterflies landed on him. Claire & Garrett celebrated the memory of all their loved ones who have passed with a beautiful box of monarchs that they released into the sky. & by doing so, everyone they loved was a part of the wedding, whether it was in person or in spirit. In no way could photos have invoked the same level of emotion I felt while watching this, and we are so honored to have been asked to do their wedding film. Congratulations, Claire & Garrett ❦
