I met the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles just over one year ago. I had written and released a music video for a song called ‘Don’t Give Up’ about the story of a young girl who struggles with her gender identity while getting ready for high school prom. Shortly after releasing the video, I heard about the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles from a friend. Long story short, the chorus and I ended up doing a live performance video of the song to help raise a voice for the transgender community.
Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to join the chorus for over 20 performances at Pride festivals, LGBTQ community events, and at theatres like the Zipper Concert Hall. I’ve never met a group of individuals as dedicated and focused on a mission as the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles. In their words, “TCLA Celebrates diversity and acceptance in appearance and vocal presentation so that others can see and feel the joy we share. Through our music we bring to the world; awareness, understanding, power and victory for the Trans Community.” Their impact has been truly undeniable.
A new season for the chorus is approaching. So that they can continue sharing their voices for the next year they need YOUR help. Rehearsal spaces, travelling costs, uniforms, etc. are expensive especially when it comes to a group of 40+ members. All proceeds go directly to the TCLA Non-Profit and ANY donation will make an impact. They are hoping to raise enough money so that each member can fly out to Minneapolis to perform at GALA Festival 2020. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this organization that means so much to me.
