A “soft” psychedelic masterpiece, featuring Glen Campbell on the haunting vocal. A beautiful song that barely charted after its US release in August 1967 (#70 on Billboard), now a rare and precious classic. Sagittarius, a band created by record producer Gary Usher, was actually comprised of Los Angeles session musicians, along with Glen Campbell, Bruce Johnston, and Curt Boettcher.

Wikipedia: “My World Fell Down” is a song written by John Carter and Geoff Stephens, and first recorded by the English pop rock band the Ivy League, on Pye Records, in 1966. The song was covered a year later by the American sunshine pop group Sagittarius, and managed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Sagittarius’s version of the composition has remained highly sought after among record collectors for its close resemblance to the Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys.”

The beginning and ending remind me of a fairy tale for some reason, so bear that in mind when watching the video. Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, and Sharon Tate have some wonderful cameos, with a bit of dancing help from actress, dancer, and model Raphaella McNamara.
