Peter Horobin explains how and why our stirrup bars are renowned worldwide!

As a trackwork rider, trainer or jockey it is essential to look after your saddles and accessories. Regardless of whether you own your own saddle or whether you are working for a stable, recognising your gear and the condition of it when you are riding we advise for it to become a part of your daily routine.

Your safety and the horse’s back health is important to us at StrideFree and understanding what your saddle is made of and how it fits is all part of going above and beyond for the horse’s welfare, while taking responsibility for your own safety as well.

Since the StrideFree model originated in 2012, the saddle is designed with A grade ethically sourced leather, a soft seat and world class stainless steel stirrup bars catered for each country’s rules and regulations. Consideration of safety measures with either a quick release (worldwide) or a closed stirrup bar (Australia only), along with strong solid chrome and leather girth straps.

Our StrideFree tree research has shown:
– More freedom of the horses’ shoulder
– Lengthened and efficiency of stride
– Reduction of pressure across the spine to improve muscle development
– Prevention of kissing spine
– May help prevent speedy cutting
– May help prevent wither soreness
– May help prevent back pain
– Minimal pressure in the girth area allowing more comfort
Maximum comfort for the horse in training

The valuable feedback from hundreds of track riders and trainers worldwide has allowed us to develop two widths of saddles to cater for both younger less developed horses (WIDE) and more developed horses (STD), allowing the saddle to sit closer giving the rider more security and comfort.
