One of my favorite bands from high school and shortly thereafter, yet my first video of their music. Probably not the first song that comes to mind when thinking of The Guess Who, but “Rain Dance” and “Albert Flasher” were two of my most favorite songs they did, both in 1971. The lead guitar solo is fabulous and for some reason makes me think of the lead guitar solos later featured in some early Steely Dan music. Some of the lyrics definitely reflect experiences I had and people I knew when life was more spontaneous and the quirky unexpected events just made everything seem more fun. Written by Burton Cummings and Kurt Winter, the song was released in July 1971, peaking at #3 in Canada and #15 in the United States on the Cash Box Top 100 on October 9, 1971 for two consecutive weeks.
